Vocabulary Lesson 12


translate: v. If you translate something, you say or write it in another language.  
“Can Kimberly translate this letter into English?”  

rapairs: n. When something needs repairs, it needs to be fixed.  
“Cynthia needs to make repairs to her bike before the race.”

heaving: v. Heaving means throwing something heavy with great effort. “Davion needs help heaving his heavy bag into the truck.”  

bothersome: adj. When something is bothersome, it bothers you and causes problems.
The broken zipper on my boot is bothersome!

din: n. If there is a din, there is so much noise that it is hard to hear anything over it.  
“The din of the crowd made it hard to hear my friend talk.”

dodge / dodging: v. When you are dodging something, you avoid something that is coming toward you.  
“Fast runners are usually good at dodging the ball.”
